Slow Food cooks Market Breakfast
Every Saturday morning during the winter season, volunteers cook breakfast for the hundreds of Dane County Farmers’ Market shoppers from the surprisingly robust bounty of the market. It’s a lot of work, and a lot of fun, and Slow Food Madison does it once a year with the help of many volunteers.

We need plenty of volunteers to pull this off, so join us for a fun, “many-hands make light-work” time of cooking in a nice big kitchen with glorious produce. This year, we’ll be cooking:
- Green salad with carrot, vinaigrette and feta
- Frittata with roasted rainbow potato, onion and herbs with parmesan option
- Strip of bacon, or sautéed mixed mushroom, garlic and onion
- Raspberry jam scone square
- coffee and juice
How to Help
We’ll need plenty of volunteers on Friday afternoon for prep and on Saturday morning to cook and serve. It’s a lot of fun, and of course you get a free breakfast
On Friday, we’ll work at the Senior Center from 1:00p to 5:00p, and this time is really clutch.
On Saturday, we’ll have two shifts: 7a – 9:30a, and 9:30a – 12p.
Get in touch with us at volunteer@slowfoodmadison.org and tell us whether you want to come Friday, Saturday, or both.
How to Eat
Just come to the market! Tickets are available to all shoppers, and benefit the farmers during their slower winter season. Beware, peak times can sometimes have a wait, but it’s always worth it for a hot, fresh, hand-cooked meal.
