Astrid de la Cruz, board member. Astrid became involved in Slow Food Madison in June 2017 when she began volunteering at the Wednesday night Community Meals. She was instantly captivated by the cheerful and collaborative atmosphere in the kitchen, which reminded her of cooking large meals with family at her parents’ home. Astrid received her B.S. in Conservation Biology and Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May 2016 and has worked in sustainable agriculture since then. She has recently returned to school to pursue a degree in Nutrition. Her hope is to help people find optimal health through dietary and lifestyle choices that ensure a sustainable and just food system for all. In her free time Astrid loves to improvise in the kitchen and develop new recipes. She also enjoys gardening, reading, practicing yoga and hanging out with furry friends.
Wally Graeber, board member. Wally hails from Twin Lakes, Wisconsin & has called Madison home for 10 years. He enjoys sharing fun knowledge with kids about growing, cooking & eating food. The most rewarding part of being a member of Slow Food Madison is breaking bread with neighbors during the Wednesday Community Meal at the Goodman Center.
